"Archimedes" is undertaken obligation at the school year 1998/99. to include Belgrade in International Mathematics Tournament of Towns , which has been achieved. This is one very prominent and interesting math contests, which began 28 years ago to organize a group of enthusiasts MATHEMATICAL from Moscow headed by Professor Nikolai Nikolayevich Constantine. Today in the Tournament of Towns involve cities from around the world (over 100 cities) and after the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the most important competition in the world of mathematics.
Competition is specific in that it takes place during the school year - has three stages: autumn round (in two phases) , spring round (also in two phases) and finale - Summer Conference Tournament Cities . While the first two stages (four terms) have the usual form of competition, as long Summer Conference International Mathematics Tournament of Towns is a successful combination competition and Scientific Conference for Young, in addition to the educational.
There are two categories of participants: younger (VII-VIII grade of Elementary school and I grade. S.S.) and older Age (II, III and IV grade of SS). May apply to participate in new students who did not participate in earlier stages of the tournament. If a student is involved in several stages, his account is a better result. Prizes are awarded with diplomas.
From our cities so far participated Subotica (1993-2003), Valjevo (1995), Novi Sad (1995-1998, 2000), Nis (1998 -2002), Podgorica (2000) and Belgrade (1999-2003). Unfortunately, for some reason (which we would not have entered), Belgrade has not been involved in the Tournament of Towns. Thanks to the "Archimedes" at school of 1998/99. Belgrade, and thease cities were involved in the tournament.
Here you can see the short reports and assignments from the International Mathematics Tournament of Towns:
